Before I met Dr. Jack Barnathan, I was on my way to a promising,
yet uninspiring future. Having just graduated from USF in Tampa, Fl with a biomedical science degree, I was in the middle
of applying to medical schools. This was what I had worked so hard for years for. Becoming a doctor had always
been my focus, but for some time, something inside was nagging me, telling me that pursuing medicine was not my calling.
I tried to ignore my intuition. And even though I dreaded even getting accepted, I filled out applications, wrote essays,
prepared for interviews, sought out recommendations, and took the MCAT twice. Clearly, I needed an intervention.
When I attended the ISSA seminar in Chicago in November
of 2007, Dr. Jack Barnathan shook the life back into me. He reached in and helped me pull out my passion for sports
and fitness. He made me realize that this was the path I wanted to follow, but first, I had to be honest with myself.
A couple of hours of intense listening to Dr. Barnathan were all I needed. His energy filled me from head to toe and
I walk out not just with a wealth of new and exciting information, but I now have a mentor who makes me look at life more
clearly. Had it not been for Dr. Jack, I
don’t think I would have admitted my true desires to myself. He has not only giving me the guidance go after my
career goals, but he has opened my eyes to all that I am capable of. Dr. Barnathan has been such a blessing in my life.
Through his life’s work, Dr. Barnathan will change the face of fitness forever and his students, like me, will carry
on his legacy for generations to come.
